TwitchCon 2017: Cosplay Contest Segment Intro

Ultra-wide stage intro for the TwitchCon 2017 Cosplay Contest: a maker's-workbench scene built for the Glitch Stage screen.

The Cosplay Contest was one of the marquee stage events at TwitchCon 2017 in Long Beach, with a $70,000 prize pool and a grand prize that went to SKSProps' full-scale Gears of War Theron Guard. This is the segment's opening title for the Glitch Stage's ultra-wide screen, delivered across the stage's three LED panels, staggered at different heights (top-left, middle, bottom-right) to match the physical layout, unlike the edge-to-edge Talent Show intro. Rather than the glitz of the finished costumes, it lives on a cosplayer's workbench in warm daylight: a sewing machine, cutting mat, scissors and X-Acto knife, a ruler, a coffee mug, spray cans, a dress-form mannequin, speakers and a glowing blue prop sword. "COSPLAY CONTEST" appears first as a pencil outline on paper on the desk, then resolves as a lit-up sign as the camera passes across it. Made on Twitch's in-house motion team, and shown on a stage Mike Williams and I designed: the two of us drew up the Glitch Stage for TwitchCon 2017.
